F-22 Raptors Get Back in Action

 

After passing nearly four months in hangers on the ground, the 170+ American elite stealth fighter jets have now been approved to get back into the air by none other than the USAF itself. The 5th generation jets were completely grounded back in May/June due to a number of pilot blackouts and a fatal accident.

Ironically USAF still doesn’t know for sure what caused those problems as there are a number of suspects which include the oxygen system aboard, congested garage-like hangars and toxic fumes. However, the Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz said that the risk should be manageable. He further said:

“We now have enough insight from recent studies and investigations that a return to flight is prudent and appropriate.”

The flights will soon be resumed but with strict daily inspections and a brief  inspection of the on board life support system. The USAF’s decision to allow F-22s to get back into active service has solved the issue for America of having almost no stealth aircraft combat ready (which had arisen after the grounding took place).

The flawless availability of F-22 is extremely important for USAF as after 2030 it will rely mainly on only two fighters – the F-22 Raptor and the Joint Strike Fighter.

According to the latest reports today the most anticipated smart-phone, yes you guessed it right we are talking about the iPhone 5, is getting released in less than a couple of weeks. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook plans to unveil the next generation iPhone on the 4th of October, in a big media event.

Verdict of Sialkot lynching case released

 

GUJRANWALA: An anti-terrorism court has announced its verdict in the case pertaining to the public lynching of two brothers a year ago in Sialkot, Geo News reported.

Death Sentence for 7, life sentence for 6 and 10 Police officers are sentenced 3 years and 50 thousand fine..

The incident took place in Sialkot on 15 August 2010 when two brothers, Muneeb and Mughees were publicly lynched and killed by a mob while police officials stood by and watched.



Two FIRs were lodged at the Saddar police station. The first was lodged on the same day when the incident took place in which the two brothers were accused of murder and robbery.

The second FIR was lodged after the video of the lynching was played on news channels leading to a suo moto notice by the Supreme Court. The FIR was lodged against 28 including police officials accused of not intervening when the incident was taking place. Ten police officers including the DPO Sialkot along with 18 locals were arrested and presented in the anti-terrorism court.

The accused were charged on November 3, 2010 and the statements of 31 witnesses were recorded

Qawwali Legend Maqbool Ahmed Sabri Passes Away

 

Famous Pakistani Qawal Maqbool Ahmed Sabri died of a heart attack in South Africa, on Wednesday.

He was born on October 12, 1941 in Kalyana, he along with his elder brother Ghulam Fareed Sabri formed the famous duo Sabri Brothers. Their first recording was released in 1958 and they were the first exponents of Qawwali to the West.

Sabri was a heart patient and recently traveled to South Africa for his treatment. His death is a great set back for Qawali in the Indo-Pak sub-continent.

His famous Qawali“Tajdar-e-Haram” had gain very popularity all over the subcontinent.

Facebook Banned in Pakistan – Court directs authorities to block access to Facebook

 

The   Pakistani Lahore High Court   ordered the Pakistani authorities to block access to all sites, including Facebook, which are involved in “spreading religious hatred” and they decided to block Facebook on October 6 onwards.

In an order issued yesterday, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed led the Department of Information Technology “to deny access to all sites in Pakistan involved in spreading religious hatred.”

However, the judge ordered the Department access to Google,yahoo or other search engines not to be blocked.

He urged the authorities to submit a report on the implementation of the court order by October 6.

The judge made the order in response to a petition for a permanent ban Facebook in the United States to host a contest on cartoons of the prophet Muhammad blasphemous.

Lawyer Mohammad Azhar Siddique, who had filed the petition, said Islamic values ​​were insulted on behalf of the Access to Information and hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world.

Despite a previous order of the High Court, the Department of Information Technology had not blocked sites spread religious hatred, Siddique claimed.

Siddique also asked the Lahore high court to order the federal government to stop the display of unwanted material by any religion or insulting the Prophet Muhammad at all sites in Pakistan.

A plane plunged into the stands at an air-race event in Reno in what an official described as a "mass casualty situation."

It wasn't immediately known how many people were killed. But video of the crash showed a horrific scene of bodies and wreckage at the front of the stands.

Mike Draper, a spokesman for the air races, told The Associated Press that Jimmy Leeward was the pilot of the P-51 Mustang that crashed into the box seat area at the front of the grandstand about 4:30 p.m. He said he did not have any information on the number of injured.

The National Championship Air Races draws thousands of people every year in September to watch various military and civilian planes race.

Pakistani Empire Aleem Dar Wins The David Shepherd Trophy For ICC Umpire Of The Year 2011

 

Famous Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar has won the David Shepherd trophy for the Umpire of the Year 2011 at ICC Awards ceremony in London. He beat all the competition from Steve Davis, Ian Gould to five-time winner Simon Taufel. Dar has won this award for the third consecutive year.

Based on the period between August 11, 2010 to August 3, 2011, Aleem Dar has officiated 5 Tests and 13 ODIs during the voting period, including the World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka.

43-year old, Dar was voted to the award by the 10 Full Member captains as well as the eight-man elite panel of match referees.

Dar accepted his award from ICC Hall of Fame 2011 inductee Alan Davidson and said:

“It’s a great honour and I’m thankful to everyone at the ICC and also my colleagues on the Elite Panel of ICC umpires along with the Pakistan Cricket Board. I’d like to also thank all my family for all their support since I’m away nearly eight months of the year umpiring.”
